Boasting characteristics such as extremely low internal resistance, quick charge/discharge and high round-trip efficiency, ultracapacitors can be used as efficient and reliable standalone storage systems, or applied in combined systems with batteries in order to extend life-time.
Drawing from our experience with both our high power and high energy series products, we will discuss the ways in which ultracapacitor characteristics can be fine-tuned to meet the specific needs of each application and individual customer. We will explore parameters including:
* carbon electrode thickness and density
* current collector properties
* contact resistances.
Building on our recent webinar on the importance of low internal resistance (ESR) in ultracapacitors, we will also take a more detailed look at how ESR can be used to adapt the balance of energy and power performance. We will discuss the main sources of ESR and the methods that are best suited to evaluate it.
