Skeleton Technologies, Europe’s leading manufacturer of high-performance ultracapacitors for transportation, industrial and grid applications, has appointed Dr. Volker Dudek as Chief Technology Officer. With considerable experience in the semiconductor market, Dr. Dudek will be responsible for technology and product development as well as quality control.

“I am joining Skeleton Technologies at a time of fast growth for the company. My task is to advance our technology following our recent successful financing and increasing demand from customers,” explains Dr. Dudek.

“Our patented, graphene-based ultracapacitors, with their high energy and power density, are gaining traction across a range of industrial applications. In addition to short-term storage systems, hybrid energy storage solutions will play an important role in the future and make a major contribution to solving the storage problem and stabilising the power grid.“

Most recently, Dr. Volker Dudek was CTO at Telefunken Semiconductors in Heilbronn and CTO at the cleantech company Clifton AS, based in Estonia and Germany. In this role he was responsible for technological development, strategic business development, patent management and the development of the product roadmap.

Until 2008, Dr. Dudek was Director of Technology Development at Atmel Corporation. Listed on NASDAQ (ATML), Atmel® is a worldwide leader in the design and manufacture of microcontrollers and supporting equipment.

Dr. Dudek has a degree in physics from the Technical University, Darmstadt and a post-graduate degree at the University of Stuttgart and managed quality control and development at the Institute for Microelectronics, a government funded institute.

“Dr. Dudek will systematically drive our groundbreaking technology and ambitious product roadmap forwards by contributing his considerable know-how and experience to our company,” comments Skeleton Technologies CEO, Taavi Madiberk.

“The integration of Dr. Dudek into our management team marks a significant milestone for Skeleton Technologies as we expand to meet rapidly increasing customer demand for ultracapacitors.”

Notes to Editors

Skeleton Technologies is Europe’s leading manufacturer of ultracapacitors. We deliver high power, high energy, reliable and long-life storage solutions across the industry. Through the use of patented nanoporous carbide-derived carbon, or ‘curved graphene’, we have achieved global breakthroughs in ultracapacitor performance. Our ultracapacitors deliver twice the energy density and 5 times the power density offered by other manufacturers. Our SkelCap series was launched in 2012 and has gained considerable interest in the motorsport, automotive and aerospace sectors, among others. Our current customer base includes global engineering companies, the European Space Agency and several Tier 1 automotive manufacturers. The company has two subsidiaries: Skeleton Technologies GmbH located in Bautzen, Germany, which deals with manufacturing and sales; and Skeleton Technologies OÜ, located near Tallinn, Estonia, which handles R&D and pilot production.
