Estonian PM hosts Skeleton Technologies CEO to Discuss Energy and Tech Sovereignty
Skeleton Technologies CEO and Co-founder Taavi Madiberk met with Prime Minister of Estonia, Kristen Michal, at Stenbock House for forward-looking discussions on key areas such as energy, defence, and technological sovereignty.
Given his previous role as Minister of Climate before taking office as Prime Minister in July 2024, Michal has a deep understanding of the global challenges we face. It’s clear that we share common interests and goals in pursuing net-zero emissions, energy autonomy, and sustainable electrification.
We look forward to working closely with the Prime Minister and his team to advance vital initiatives important not only for Estonia but also for the broader European and global context.

In June 2024, we announced the expansion of our activities in Estonia and an investment of €33.77 million to develop hydrogen technology with support from the Estonian government. Skeleton Technologies is participating in the Hydrogen IPCEI (Important Project of Common European Interest) Hy2Move initiative for the transportation industry, focused on developing pioneering high-power energy storage solutions that address the functional shortcomings of hydrogen fuel cells (H2FC), extend their lifespan, and increase efficiency. We are collaborating with other IPCEI consortium members, including Airbus, BMW, Michelin, Neumann & Esser, and Air Products, to develop a SuperBattery-based energy storage power pack—the Hydrogen Booster.
Our primary objective is to reduce the total cost of ownership of hydrogen vehicles, thereby encouraging their broader adoption. Additionally, this technology will help reduce the need for critical raw materials and lessen the European Union’s dependence on supply chains outside the region.
The Estonian government is supporting our hydrogen technology development with €18 million. "Skeleton's planned development center is a good example of an innovative clean industry, for which we are creating room for growth with the Climate Safe Economy Act. The Skeleton solution contributes to the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions in the transport sector and provides exciting new opportunities for our smart engineers. Supporting such plans with CO2 funds is a smart use of money," said Kristen Michal, the Climate Minister of Estonia at the time.
