Skeleton takes part in the official visit of the Estonian Foreign Minister Eva-Maria Liimets to the United Arab Emirates
Last week, our Head of Communications Arnaud Castaignet was part of the business delegation accompanying Estonia's Minister of Foreign Affairs Eva-Maria Liimets to the United Arab Emirates.
Eva-Maria Liimets was visiting the Dubai EXPO, took part in a Sharjah-Republic of Estonia business seminar with companies from Estonia and the U.A.E, a panel discussion organised as part of the EXPO Global Goals Week, and attended the events of the Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week.
“Both Estonia and the UAE have been a fertile ground for new companies in their respective regions, and several unicorns have emerged from our countries. States that share an enterprising spirit should create suitable conditions to encourage business between our countries as well“,
she said.
The Republic of Estonia has over the years developed strong relations with the emirate of Sharjah, in particular. Sharjah is home to one of the largest industrial zones in the UAE and has positioned itself as a regional centre for industrial and manufacturing activities, and the sector has supported economic diversification.
As one of the main representatives of Estonia’s industry, Skeleton was invited to join the business delegation, especially because the United Arab Emirates have undertaken major investments to develop renewable energy and industry.
Our Head of Communications spoke about the need for investments in the deeptech sector and the challenges companies face when scaling up, at the Sharjah-Republic Of Estonia Entrepreneurship Forum. Using some of the proposals developed in the EU Unicorns Group Skeleton is part of, he shared ideas on what it takes to support innovative deeptech startups.
He was also invited to share Skeleton's story at a conference in Expo 2020 Dubai on Tech-Enabled Sustainability & Impact Investing. This event organized by the Expo and the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs of the Slovak Republic looked into how startups and firms develop new technologies and adopt new approaches to doing business in order to contribute to a more sustainable future. The topics of the rising battery industry in Europe, and the role of technology, governments and investors, for a sustainable future were also addressed during the panel discussion.
