How can 12V on-board net cells improve the EV experience by solving issues with battery lifespan and slow charging? 

Skeleton Technologies' low voltage on-board net stabilization, backup and powering solutions significantly support the customer experience of electric vehicles and make it more appealing.

The power density of Supercapacitors is 100x higher and rapidly available in (dis)-charging cycles compared to Lithium-ion batteries. This advantage is used to support the main Lithium-ion traction batteries in optimizing the power management. During acceleration and braking high power demands are handled by supercapacitors to reduce the strain on the Lithium-ion battery and manage high-power tasks. As a result, the electric range and lifetime of the Lithium-ion battery extends due to less (dis)-charging cycles.

Skeleton Supercapacitors have a life span of 1 million charging/discharging cycles, which allows the 12V system to stay reliable over the actual vehicle’s lifespan.

Frequent replacement and maintenance are not needed anymore as know from 12V lead acid batteries. Moreover, instantaneous power delivery backups the primary lithium-ion battery during malfunction and peak power demands. The rapid response secures the function of critical vehicle systems like ECU and active safety features at any time without interruption. Voltage fluctuations are smoothened, and sensitive electronic components are secured from damage by stable power supply. The primary battery is also protected from strain by Skeleton Supercapacitor’s capability to handle short-term, high-power tasks like engine starting and regenerative braking. In the challenging environments, high temperatures, humidity, and vibration, traditional batteries often experience degradation over time. Considering the rising power demands in EV vehicles, how do 12V on-board net cells perform under extreme conditions?

Supercapacitors are built to perform at maximum performance in harsh conditions where Lithium-ion batteries and conventional capacitors struggle to deliver power over time.

Driving in a traffic jam in cold and wet winter conditions is a nightmare for usual batteries, since there is a low state of charge due to various electric consumers running at once like AC, headlights and seat heat. Furthermore, Lithium-ion batteries suffer from efficiency losses at low temperatures. Supercapacitors withstand vibrations and mechanical stress because of their robust design and construction. In harsh conditions from cold to hot temperature -40°C to +65°C (-40°F to +149 °F) there is no performance degradation expected from supercapacitors.

What other types of commercial vehicles, besides EV, are ideally suited for 12V on-board net cell backup power solution? 

In general, sufficient backup power solutions are crucial for every powertrain and vehicle type to guarantee maximum safety, reliability and comfort.

Besides BEVs, Skeleton Supercapacitors are well suited for Hybrid vehicles to manage power demands of both propulsion types in a more efficient way.
