Skeleton Technologies has been granted the UL810A certification after stringent testing of the SkelCap SCA series ultracapacitor cells, the building blocks for our modules and full systems, further strengthening our position as a leading ultracapacitor manufacturer for the North American automotive market.

The UL810A is a specific certification for electrochemical capacitors (ultracapacitors, supercapacitors, and electric double-layer capacitors) and includes use of ultracapacitors in for example UPS and automotive applications, both of which are growing markets for Skeleton Technologies in the US.

During the last year the interest in ultracapacitors has grown rapidly throughout the world. Tesla's purchase of Maxwell Technologies, the US-based ultracapacitor manufacturer, has made a lot more companies aware of the possibilities of ultracapacitor technology for example in passenger cars, heavy transportation, and mining. The emergence of electric cars has opened the market for ultracapacitors in for example start-stop, active suspension, energy regeneration, and even lead-acid battery replacement applications.

The UL certifications are granted by UL, a US-based company operation globally in safety consulting and certification, and is added to a list of a growing number of other certifications Skeleton Technologies has been granted: RoHS (Restriction of Hazardous Substances Directive), which is a European Commission "Directive on the restriction of the use of certain hazardous substances in electrical and electronic equipment"; CE Declaration of Conformity, proving Skeleton Technologies' products meet the EU Directive on electromagnetic compatibility; as well as ISO 9001:2015 and ISO 14001:2015 management systems standards.
